Meet Liz
I'm Liz Baxter and I moved to Waxhaw, NC two years ago from Charlotte, NC. Originally from Fayetteville, NC, I attended school at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and post graduation, relocated to the Charlotte, NC area in 2014. A little about my family, my husband, Parron, and I have two phenomenal children - Ethan and Ava. I work in the fintech space by day, and I enjoy painting and reading at night, whenever my kids give me a moment to do that. This is my first time running for public office, and I thank you for taking a moment to get to know me.
I began getting actively involved with the Mecklenburg Democratic Party in October of 2018, where I canvassed for the first time, and have been engaged ever since.
What's at stake?
Our public schools are under-resourced and lacking funding, losing teachers at an alarming rate, and fighting culture wars in the classroom. In May of 2023, Governor Cooper issued A State of Emergency on the Public Education Crisis, in order to spotlight the uphill battle it has been and the ways we need to take immediate action in an effort to save our public schools.
In late April of 2023, I began volunteering with Public School Strong to better understand how I can get involved. As a graduate of the public education system, mom, friend, and neighbor of the kids and teachers, I felt an obligation to do something. Since then, I've attended multiple Union County School Board meetings, continued to educate myself, and stay engaged with Public School Strong.
This campaign is not just about me; it's about all of us, the people of North Carolina, and more specifically, the children. Your voice is essential in shaping the policies that will impact our schools and communities. Together, we can build a future where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Join me on this journey, and let's create a North Carolina where education is the key that unlocks boundless opportunities for all.
Thank you for your support!
